Guests will enjoy some good old fashioned “gemutlichkeit” when visiting Grace Lutheran Church.
Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church has been located at the corner of Beechwood Avenue and Woodward Street since 1909. The newly formed congregation rented the existing building, the First Methodist Church, until it was purchased, razed and the present structure, a beautiful lannon-stone church, was erected in 1941.
Saturday: Self-guided tours will unlock the answers to questions about the neighborhood church. Grace-ful music will be provided: a lovely handbell mini-concert at 11:45 am and a Schantz pipe organ mini-recital at 1:15 pm and 3:45 pm. Visitors may be refreshed in the Grace Café from 11:30-4:00 and can tap toes to popular tunes, from years ago, at 1:30. Spanish interpretations will be available.
Sunday: The cordial open house begins at 1:00, featuring an old-fashioned band concert and vintage music in the fellowship hall at 2:00 pm. The Unlocked program will conclude with a reception and an open house. Spanish interpretations will be available.
