Community Service Officer
City of Waukesha Police Department

This is an entry level part-time seasonal civilian law enforcement position. Two (2) openings are scheduled to be filled. Duties include responding to non-hazardous calls for service throughout City parks, such as parking issues, lost children and enforcing minor City Ordinance violations, traffic control and assisting Patrol Officers with non-hazardous calls.

Required: High school diploma or GED, possession of a valid Wisconsin Drivers License with excellent driving record, must be 18 years of age at the time of appointment, must be willing to work various hours and days (Thursday through Sunday/May 23 – September 17), must be in good physical condition (operating a mountain bicycle 50% of the workday), must be able to successfully operate a mountain bicycle, and pass a thorough background check and drug test.

Preferred: Bilingual in English/Spanish, currently enrolled in a college level criminal justice program or other applicable course of study, First Aid/CPR certification.

Pay: $15.00 per hour.

This position designs and manages public works construction projects of various size and complexity from project development through completion including construction management. Knowledge in infrastructure design including roads and storm drainage systems required.  Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred. This position provides general supervision over field crews throughout the assigned project. Oversees the work of others without acting in a supervisory role. 

Required:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering and additional Professional Engineer licensing plus four (4) to six (6) years of recent hands on experience in highway design and engineering. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.

Salary range starts at $65,890; maximum $88,952 achieved through merit increases.

The City is seeking a Director of Information Services with strong leadership and collaboration skills in addition to technical expertise. The Director is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the data and information technology operations of the City. The position supervises about 11 full-time personnel, several outsourced service contracts, and develops and maintains an IT structure that supports the needs of the City.

Reporting directly to the City Administrator, the Director supports and collaborates with the Mayor and Common Council and the City’s department directors to advance a strategic direction for the City’s use of information technology. The Director also works with an IT advisory board. The City has approximately 530 employees; the IT department maintains over 300 applications and 124 Servers. The Director oversees a $2.7 million operating budget, and a five-year IT capital equipment plan of more than $2.5 million.

The position requires extensive knowledge of information technology operations and general practices, including current developments and innovations relevant to municipal government. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills and significant career success in building collaborative, effective relationships across departments. Additional experience in strategic planning, project management and complex problem solving with the ability to work effectively in a wide variety of governmental disciplines is important. Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business management, or related field, and seven years of progressively responsible experience in information technology including two years experience in managing technical personnel. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree. Starting salary (midpoint): $110,500 +/- plus excellent benefits.

Waukesha Public Library seeks a highly motivated and technology savvy, public-service-oriented individual to provide adult reference, readers’ advisory services, and collection development to the community.

Part Time

Monitor the drop off center during public hours directing residents to properly navigate through the center and dispose of their materials including recyclables, yard waste, and bulky trash items.  Directly interact with residents, other City employees and disposal contractors when they pick up or deliver materials.

Required:  High school diploma or HSED with one year experience in customer service or equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hours of work:  8 – 32 hours per month during the winter (Saturdays only) and 16 – 48 per month during the summer (Wednesdays and Saturdays).

This position supervises the daily process operations of the wastewater plant including the plant laboratory. Supervises between 4 and 15 full time employees. Reviews all lab data, assesses for compliance with laboratory certification requirements including QA/QC. Prepares monthly DMR report including upload of data to DNR website; develops and updates lab standard operating procedures and lab quality assurance manual; develops and updates plant operating procedures. Maintains and works with the plant SCADA system and the plant Wastewater Information Management system.

Required: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in chemistry or biology, and at least 4 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant and/or lab operations and completion of operator training or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Wastewater Operator Certification Advanced Laboratory required; other subgrades desirable. Must have a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Salary range starts at $69,522; maximum $93,855 achieved through merit increases.

Under general supervision operates and maintains plant processes and equipment including regular tours of the plant, adjustment of equipment, sample collection, simple lab test. Hours 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday but may include some nights and weekends. Requires being on-call.

Required:Associate’s Degree or equivalent in electronics and mechanical operations related to wastewater treatment plant operations or related trades and 4-6 years of experience in wastewater treatment plan and lift station operations or any equivalent combination of training and experience. May require certification in HVAC, plumbing, welding and/or heaving equipment operation, relevant DNR Wastewater Operation certification. Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record. Ability to perform heavy physical tasks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Physical and drug test required.

Salary - $23.66; maximum $31.95 per hour achieved through merit increases.
