THE POSITION: We are looking for a dedicated professional with a welcoming personality to work at our busy Reference Desk, planning & conducting adult programs and instructive classes, assisting and instructing library patrons in the use of the online catalog, reference sources, websites, databases, computer programs, e-readers, and technology use.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Library Science or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills: professional public library experience in information sciences; knowledge of resources available from other libraries, the Library System, and throughout the state; understanding of public library policies; knowledge of trends in collection development; excellent oral and written communication; ability to analyze statistical data and evaluate programs, ability to work independently or as part of a dynamic team; ability to prioritize a varied workload.

Regular schedule includes weekdays, evenings, and weekend hours.

Part-time Positions Available: 10 hours per week and 20-23 hours per week
Energetic, reliable individual needed to shelve library materials. Other tasks may include: sorting and shelving magazines, checking in and straightening up newspapers, re-filing microfilm, emptying book returns, keeping the shelves in Dewey Decimal order, organizing books to be re-shelved, assisting with closing procedures, and check-in of materials as needed.

Schedule will include mornings, afternoons, evenings until 9:15 p.m., and weekends. Schedule flexibility is essential.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent or current enrollment in high school and 16 years of age; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills:
Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system
Ability to follow instructions, multitask and prioritize workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers and the general public
Skills in organization and time management

Starting rate is $11.51 per hour with a maximum rate of $15.54 per hour achieved through merit increases.

DROP-OFF CENTER MONITOR
RECYCLING SITE


Part Time

Monitor the drop off center during public hours directing residents to properly navigate through the center and dispose of their materials including recyclables, yard waste, and bulky trash items.  Directly interact with residents, other City employees and disposal contractors when they pick up or deliver materials.

Required:  High school diploma or HSED with one year experience in customer service or equivalent combination of experience and training.

Hours of work:  8 – 32 hours per month during the winter (Saturdays only) and 16 – 48 per month during the summer (Wednesdays and Saturdays).

Hourly Rate:  $11.52

ENGINEER II
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
ENGINEERING DIVISION

This position designs and manages public works construction projects of various size and complexity from project development through completion including construction management. Knowledge in infrastructure design including roads and storm drainage systems required.  Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred. This position provides general supervision over field crews throughout the assigned project. Oversees the work of others without acting in a supervisory role. 

Required:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering and additional Professional Engineer licensing plus four (4) to six (6) years of recent hands on experience in highway design and engineering. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.

Salary range starts at $65,890; maximum $88,952 achieved through merit increases.

RECREATION SUPERVISOR
PARKS, RECREATION AND FORESTRY DEPARTMENT


This is an administrative position responsible that is responsible for managing a broad range of recreational and educational programs and activities for the community, under the general direction of the Recreation Services Manager; the position is responsible for developing, coordinating, planning and supervising programs, policies, facilities and employees to staff the programs and activities.

Responsibilities include supervising numerous recreational and educational programs, developing goals and objectives for the programs and establishing budgets, preparing marketing and promotional materials and coordinating/training personnel.  Oversees pool operations, including the training and supervision of lifeguards and other pool and concessions staff; develops implements and supervises various program, special events and safety policies and procedures.  Conducts studies, needs assessment, and makes recommendations for improvement to programs and services, writes grants, manages grants and develops sponsorship opportunities.

Required:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation/Parks Management, Education, Business or closely related field, supplemented by at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in planning, development and delivery of recreation services at an administrative level; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record; ability to pass a criminal background check, CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of employment; obtain Food Safety Manager Certification and Certified Pool Operator license within one year of employment; American Red Cross Instructor Certifications for Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED/First Aid preferred.  Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

PROCESS CONTROL SUPERVISOR
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
CLEAN WATER PLANT

This position supervises the daily process operations of the wastewater plant including the plant laboratory. Supervises between 4 and 15 full time employees. Reviews all lab data, assesses for compliance with laboratory certification requirements including QA/QC. Prepares monthly DMR report including upload of data to DNR website; develops and updates lab standard operating procedures and lab quality assurance manual; develops and updates plant operating procedures. Maintains and works with the plant SCADA system and the plant Wastewater Information Management system.

Required: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in chemistry or biology, and at least 4 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant and/or lab operations and completion of operator training or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Wastewater Operator Certification Advanced Laboratory required; other subgrades desirable. Must have a valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Salary range starts at $69,522; maximum $93,855 achieved through merit increases.

POLICE OFFICER/RECRUIT
POLICE DEPARTMENT

The City of Waukesha Board of Police and Fire Commissioners is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer/Recruit.  Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, possess valid Wisconsin Driver's License, have no felony convictions, be certified by the State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board, or be eligible for certification, and have a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited university, college or technical school. Applicants who do not meet the minimum age or college credit requirements at the time of application must meet the minimum age and college credit requirements within six months of the due date for filing applications.  In the event a conditional offer of employment is made prior to the end of the six-month period of time, the applicant must meet the minimum age and college credit requirements in order to accept the offer of employment.  Applicants must pass a physical agility test, written examination, oral interviews, thorough background investigation, medical exam including a drug screen and a psychological assessment prior to the time of hiring.

OPERATOR
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
CLEAN WATER PLANT

Under general supervision operates and maintains plant processes and equipment including regular tours of the plant, adjustment of equipment, sample collection, simple lab test. Hours 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday but may include some nights and weekends. Requires being on-call.

Required:Associate’s Degree or equivalent in electronics and mechanical operations related to wastewater treatment plant operations or related trades and 4-6 years of experience in wastewater treatment plan and lift station operations or any equivalent combination of training and experience. May require certification in HVAC, plumbing, welding and/or heaving equipment operation, relevant DNR Wastewater Operation certification. Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record. Ability to perform heavy physical tasks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Physical and drug test required.

Salary - $23.66; maximum $31.95 per hour achieved through merit increases.
