Seventeen years ago Waukesha residents Susan and Barrett Wainscott started teaching swimming lessons in their backyard to local children. Today they own Swimtastic with 8 locations across the United States. While Susan and Barrett are no longer involved in the day to day operations, they work alongside the owners of the other locations. Swimtastic offers swim lessons to children 6 months to Adults. They also offer other programs such as Summer Swim Camp, Birthday Parties and Aqua Pilates.
Susan and Barrett realized early that building relationships with their customers and their children was essential to building a unique experience at Swimtastic. General Manager Michelle Posey believes that consulting with the parent after each lesson helps make swimming fun, enjoyable, and safe. As rewarding as the programs are for the participants, the staff at Swimtastic also feel rewarded. Danielle Liebl, a swim teacher and the president’s assistant at Swimtastic, enjoys “that moment when a child, who originally was TERRIFIED of the water and crying … scared to get in, swims on their own for the very first time! She adds that, “to look in the parent’s eyes as tears fall because they are so happy, that’s the greatest feeling as a teacher”.
Swimtastic serves a diverse clientele and enjoys what that brings to their swim school. Assistant Office manager Natalie Wesley feels that the “swim parents and guardians are the best!” The great support they receive can be seen as parents participate in local parades on behalf of Swimtastic as well as special ventures. “We have grown to know the people in our community as being faithful, committed, and supportive.” The City of Waukesha is proud to feature Swimtastic, another distinctive business that has greatly contributed and is greatly committed to our community.
